‘Full’ population projections by age and sex for the United Kingdom and constituent countries are produced every two years. These sets of projections are based on a review of all the underlying assumptions regarding fertility, mortality and net migration. The current set of projections are 2006-based and were published on 23 October 2007.
In the intervening year between full projections, special sets of ‘interim’ projections may be produced. This database includes two recent sets (2001-based and 2003-based) of interim projections. The 2006-based projections replace the 2004-based population projections published in October 2005.
All national projections since the 1998-based set were made available online on the GAD website at the time of their publication. In October 2006, this database of past national projections was extended back to the first set produced by GAD in 1954. Click here for further details.
GAD published 2003-based population projections by marital status for England & Wales on 10 March 2005. For further details please click here.
