GAD was responsible for the production of the official national population projections for the United Kingdom and its constituent countries from 1954 until 2006.
Responsibility for the production of the official national population projections, and associated demographic data, transferred to the Office for National Statistics (ONS) in 2006.
National population projections, marital status projections and national life expectancy data are still available from this website. However, demographic enquiries should be directed to ONS.
