Latest national projections (2008-based)
The Office for National Statistics published the latest (2008-based) principal projections
for the United Kingdom and constituent countries on 21 October 2009. These replace the previous
2006-based projections. The main six 'standard' variant 2008-based projections, at UK and individual
country level, were also published on 21 October 2009. These show the future population possibilities
under alternative assumptions of high or low fertility, mortality and migration. Natural change only
(zero migration), high population and low population variants for all countries were also published
on 21 October 2009. Additional variants for all countries, including selected combinations of the
variant assumptions and other special case scenarios will be published on 18 November 2009.
